Brick & Barley is a restaurant everyone must try! It is a new staple to the downtown Grand Forks area. The location and historic building are perfect for lunch, dinner dates or a night out with friends. The beer selection on tap is more extensive and diverse than any other in town. They offer a wide variety of food and fabulous desserts. The wings and tacos are my favorite! The staff is knowledgeable and always friendly. I definitely recommend Brick & Barley to anyone looking to try something new.

I really wanted to like this place, as GF seems to have very few good restaurants. However, the food I ordered (basic cheeseburger and fries) was, well, bland and not well-prepared. I asked them to cook my burger medium; I should have prepared for disappointment when the waitress gave me a blank look and I had to explain what that is. Instead, it was cooked well-done (and the order took a LONG time). A place that touts itself a gastropub should be able to cook a burger to medium. Fries were slightly old-tasting with no seasoning. The fountain diet soda was good. Sadly, overall my experience was unremarkable.

A group of 6 of us came in. The service was a bit slow but were told or waiter was still in training. In the end the food was good but the service sucked. It took 20 minutes to get our bill paid. Do not come here if your time means something to you

Great beer. And that's about it. The only way you can even get decent service here is when you sit at the bar, and even then it's only just okay. If you sit at a regular table all the waitresses and waiters are very snooty. They are also very slow. Food sucks. I've never gotten a decent meal here and everything we have ever ordered be it just out on date night or with a group has been basically inedible. We will stick to other places in town that also have a rotational beer menu but much better food.

This may not be the best place to get dinner in town (food and service is mediocre at best), but the beer selection and prices are fantastic. They rotate in some very impressive, unique, and expensive beers. Some of them cannot be found anywhere else in Grand Forks or even North Dakota. Their happy hour is way worth it- I've had so many expensive brews there for $3/pint that I sometimes wonder if they're losing money. Also, the place tends to be empty during that time of day so you get quicker service and less assholes bothering you.

Positives: Awesome, historic building. Wide tap beer selection. Negatives: Everything else.... 1. The menu is terrible - when I finally picked something to eat (because I really didn't like any of the options) the server came back ten minutes (yes, TEN) later and told three out of our four diners that they were 'out' of what we ordered. We had each ordered different things! I've been there several times (because it's a new place in town, so different friends have dragged me there) and I've never enjoyed the food. All the appetizers were cooked poorly, or just poor product. 2. I'm a hard cider fan and every time I went, I asked what ciders were available. However, in their wide selection of tap beer, they've only ever had one or two ciders (understandable), but they were always terrible! NOT impressed. 3. I've had the same server several times, a really creepy woman. She would linger by the table(5 ft away) and stare at us, then awkwardly walk closer, stare some more, and then say something. WEIRD! 4. Also, the room is so high, and the walls are all brick so the sound bounces around way too much. It's very difficult to have conversations without hearing every other table's convos. I would NOT recommend eating here.

Great beer selection, but so expensive... Staff is slow and doesn't pay much attention to you. I've had to wait 15+ minutes for a beer on many occassions (we're talking weekday evenings, not fri/sat), which I think is pretty unacceptable.

I've been impressed with everything I've had. The pancake brunch is great, I really enjoy the Street tacos and chicken wings. The chef puts a cool twist on every dish. The space is clean and open. I've had nothing but good experiences with the staff. They have a large beer selection and really seem to know their stuff.

Well first of all, I lived in South Korea for 4 years so I've tried plenty of Korean tacos. I was excited to try this place due to the fact that they had Korean tacos and the cook was also Korean. The tacos I received are nothing like the tacos I had in Korea, DC, or anywhere else. They weren't that good at all. I gave this place 3 stars because they have an awesome beer selection which changes frequently. I'll try this place again and maybe i'll change my review. Until then...

I recently visited the Brick and Barley while I was swinging through Grand Forks, ND on business. I was very pleased with the beer selection. They had over 40 taps (They also had a wide selection of hard liquor and wine). I also enjoyed some delicious food while I was there. They serve a variety of food on the menu that is reasonably priced. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My husband and I visited brick and barley with hesitation because of the no service/bad service of the previous bar in the same location. We arrive around 11:30 and was glad to see a late night menu. We sat down at high bar table and 2 waitress passed us by. We sat for 10 mins until I finally went to bar and ordered our drinks and bought them myself to the table. We waited 10 more mins and still no waitress came to assist us. So I went to bar a second time and ordered the walleye and fries. The food came 27 mins later good and hot and very good. But didn't received response from waitress she just put the food on table and left. I did go back to bar myself and ordered a basket of fries. They came in 10 mins hot and tasty. I went ordered more drinks from bar again myself. The check was presented ...not a but priced. 3 drinks and food was less than $30 so I tipped $10 because of the helpful bartenders and the good food. But the service was terrible. (Still) and planned to tell everyone about it. I should mentioned we are a Black couple.
